Harford Pier was developed in 1873, the Point San Luis Lighthouse was founded in 1890 and is described as open for tours on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and there are tide pools at Pirates Cove.
Getting around
The Bob Jones Trail is described as a hiking, walking, jogging and biking route running from the sand inland, and the Avila Beach Trolley is described as connecting the Pismo Beach Premium Outlets to Port San Luis. Mineral hot springs sit a short drive up the valley. Give guests the honest walk and the real parking rather than a neighbourhood label.
The rule
The County's user guide says an Avila Beach property needs a vacation rental zoning clearance, business licence and transient occupancy tax certificate where it complies with Coastal Zone Land Use Ordinance Section 23.08.165, and that the location standard at 23.08.165c(3) can be modified through a Minor Use Permit. The guide also states a licence cannot be transferred to a new owner and goes inactive after 12 months without renewal.
