The Town's permit application requires a local contact who responds in person within 30 minutes, any hour. Ask: who is that, and do they live in town?
Twentynine Palms
A course, an inspection, a license
Owners and agents complete the City's vacation home rental education course, and building permits are signed off before the safety inspection. Ask: have you done the course?
In the County
Four more things to ask about.
- The permit number. The County requires it on every listing. Ask to see yours.
- The yearly renewal. Permits renew every year, and a renewal with physical changes needs an inspection. Ask who files it.
- A sale. Permits do not transfer. A new owner files a new application within 30 days.
- Operating without a permit. The County fines $1,000 per violation per day. Ask how a new home is kept off the market until it is permitted.
